LIFE
takes funny twists, and we can't always know where
the road will lead. Not too many years ago, I
retired from medicine after a quarter of a century
as a private practitioner and a decade as a
professor at the University of Texas Southwestern
Medical Center.
AFTER the death of my first wife in 1999, I began writing about my
journey through grief. This evolved into a book,
The Tender Scar: Life After The Death Of A Spouse,
which was released in March, 2006 by Kregel
Publishers. After The Tender Scar I wrote a
number of short pieces, many of which have been
published, but my passion became fiction. Like most
authors, I served a long apprenticeship, honing my
craft, and now my efforts have been rewarded.
YES, I thought I was retiring. Instead, I've just shifted gears and I
can hardly wait to see what God has in store for me
in the future.
